Todd Hintz grew up in Southern California and first became passionate about basketball after attending John Wooden Basketball Camp at age 13. Getting a chance to meet Coach Wooden, and watch nightly UCLA Final Four videos gave him hopes of playing basketball at the collegiate level. Unfortunately, physics and genetics resulted in a modest high school basketball career. He could only watch as an SDSU freshman from the stands of a half empty Sports Arena as Michael Cage dominated the WAC and took SDSU to the NCAA Tourney. While he continued to play pickup and Rec league basketball until his mid 20's, a knee injury on a fast break ended his dreams. However, he knew that if his kids showed the same passion for the game, he would do whatever he could to give them an opportunity to play collegiately. He started coaching youth basketball, and realized that he could do more for his sons than just sign them up for a league and attend games. After a few seasons of Rec League ball, he took a look at some of the basketball clubs around San Diego, and realized that year round basketball was an expensive proposition. As a result, Aztec Warrior Basketball was formed to provide a year round basketball experience at an affordable price for all.
